Getting Started

The next 6 week block of beginners classes commence on the Thursday the 14th of January 2010 at Middletonhall Bowling Club. There will be a drop in class/pay on the night class taking place on Thursday 7th Jan to which all are invited (£5 per person) Call Lianne on 07737 927463 or email info@beatfeetdance.co.uk if you would like to join the next season of beginner classes. If you want to start right away you can start learning the Mambo, one of the base steps for Latin American Salsa, by following the instructions below.

Getting to Know the Salsa Beat

The count we use in salsa is 123-567- on a four beat rhythm with the last (forth) beat in each bar being a pause in the steps hence the 4 and 8 are just represented by dashes.

How To Do A Mambo- Step By Step

Start Both Feet Together.
Step forward with the left foot putting weight on foot-leave right foot where it is bring left foot back to meet the right foot in the middle.
Step back with the right foot putting weight on the foot-leave left foot where it is bring right foot back into middle.

Repeat.

How To do A Mambo Beat By Beat

Start feet together weight on right foot
step forward with left leg and place weight on left foot (1)
rock weight back to right (2)
Bring left foot back to middle (3)
Pause (4)
Step back with right leg and place weight on right foot (5)
Rock weight onto left (6)
Bring right foot back to middle (7)
Pause (8)
